Queensway Estate
Queensway is the largest of Bourne Capital’s four Estates and a model for inner urban regeneration in partnership with the local authority. It has evolved significantly since the initial acquisition, growing to include three substantial blocks of properties which occupy both sides of the street near the Queensway London Underground Station.
Queen’s Court, the first property to be acquired, has recently undergone a multi-million pound investment programme. Originally comprising the ice rink and retail space, it was redeveloped as a substantial new leisure complex encompassing tenpin bowling, an electronic games venue, a bar, and a restaurant/café, as well as retaining London’s most famous ice rink, all of which are run successfully by our Leisure Division.
Additional floor space was also created during the redevelopment through the introduction of a mezzanine floor to house the Queensway Market, now the largest employment hub in the area, employing some 400 people.
In addition to the leisure complex, the Queensway Estate also includes retail, office, and residential space, as well as a six-level underground car park with 310 spaces.
Vision
We are currently supporting the majority of local businesses who, in conjunction with the local authority, are working to bring about a significant enhancement of Queensway’s streetscape. This improvement is designed to reflect the street’s status as one of London’s most vibrant multicultural quarters and to modernise one of London’s busiest shopping streets with its two underground stations and the twin counterbalances of Queensway Market and Whiteleys shopping centre.
