Cheyne Walk Brasserie: “London’s Most Romantic Restaurant 2008”
Bourne Capital’s original brasserie operation, the Cheyne Walk Brasserie, has been recognised as “London’s Most Romantic Restaurant 2008” by Harper’s Magazine.
The award comes as our Leisure Division celebrate the successful opening of the Waterloo Brasserie on the Waterloo Estate and whilst the plans for two more restaurants are in the pipeline. “We are all thrilled with the award”, says Sally Greene, Creative Director of the Leisure Division. “We have worked extremely hard to ensure this restaurant succeeds and every time we receive awards it gives us a great feeling of achievement.”
Almost five years on from its opening, Cheyne Walk Brasserie remains one of Chelsea’s favourite eateries and the opening of the nearby Phene under the same management is eagerly awaited by local residents.
Robert Bourne Spearheads Special Opportunities Division
With a difficult economic climate comes opportunity. Robert Bourne, Chairman of Bourne Capital, is personally spearheading Bourne Capital’s Special Opportunities Division.
The Special Opportunities Division is designed to take advantage of the uncertainties in the commercial and residential property sectors by co-investing in opportunities with major banks and financial institutions. With our unique management experience we are able to achieve superior revenues, securing the investment we make irrespective of the financial climate. We have also created the Special Opportunities Fund to co-invest alongside partners.
With specialist teams established in both the UK and France, Robert Bourne sees his leadership of the new Division as “a major step towards building on our relationships with joint venture partners” and his involvement is expected to fuel new growth for the group.
Plans for Central London’s Largest Auditorium get Underway
An exciting new scheme to create Central London’s largest auditorium has recently been disclosed by Bourne Capital’s development team who have identified an opportunity to create Europe’s most exciting concert hall and event space.
“Sally and I have long dreamed of creating an auditorium to reestablish London as the cultural capital of the western world”, says Robert Bourne, Chairman of Bourne Capital. Although plans are at an early stage, a site has been identified on the Waterloo Estate, next to one of London’s most important transport terminals, the South Bank Centre, and in close proximity to the West End. Further plans are expected to be revealed later this year.
Simon Cooke to Manage Ronnie’s Brand
Simon Cooke, former Enterprise Director for Jazz FM has joined Bourne Capital to maximize the potential for the Ronnie Scott’s brand.
Within five years Simon managed to develop Jazz FM’s non-radio activities creating a revenue stream of £4.5 million, which represented 60% of the company’s turnover. Now he has joined Bourne Capital as Managing Director of Ronnie Scott’s to help extend the world-famous brand. “For years I have been having ideas for Ronnie Scott’s so I am delighted to have the opportunity to take the reigns”, says Simon.
Waterloo Brasserie Gets a Standing Ovation
A few months on from the opening of Bourne Capital’s second restaurant venture and the Waterloo Brasserie is already proving a smash hit.
Since its’ opening in December 2007, the Waterloo Brasserie has proved an instant success, attracting crowds from local offices, tourists, and of course the theatre goers at the Old Vic next door. “We have been bowled over by how many people we’ve already had through the doors”, says Philippe Moreau, General Manager of the Brasserie Operations for Bourne Capital, “we couldn’t have asked for a better start.”
With the Waterloo Brasserie pulling in big crowds, the team behind its creation now turns its attention to the development of the Phene, in the heart of Chelsea, and the Islington Greene Brasserie, which will be situated in the new Collins Music Hall development on Bourne Capital’s Islington Estate.
